Happy New Year!
Many blessings to you as 2013 starts its journey. The Friends of Shoseian are certainly looking forward to an active year filled with tea gatherings and, hopefully, a few steps closer to our tea room renovation!
Before looking forward; however, we will start our new year looking back and sharing with you what a wonderful Holiday Tea Event & Martial Arts Demonstration we hosted on December 16, 2012. We had a lovely gathering of friends, drank tea around the warmth of the furo (charcoal fire), and watched an exciting demonstration of Shindo Muso Ryu Jo Jutso martial arts. Ornaments hung from the trees, a Santa’s Cookies jar stood in for the traditional cold water container in the tea ceremony, and even our resident ducks and turtles enjoyed the festivities!
Please enjoy some photos from the event, and even a slideshow that shares some footage from the martial arts demonstartion (taking place on our brand new bridge in the garden!).
